Groß-Sand is a Catholic hospital in the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg.
It provides basic and regular care for approx. 55,000 inhabitants of the Elbe island as well as supra-regional special care in the fields of (orthopedic) surgery, internal medicine, intensive care, geriatrics and early geriatric and neurological rehabilitation with a total of 217 in-patient and 20 day clinic beds.
Since 2015, the Seamen's Ambulance has been part of the Wilhelmsburg Groß-Sand Hospital as a separate specialist department.
The team headed by Chief Physician Dr. Jan-Gerd Hagelstein covers the entire spectrum of maritime medicine and concentrates on the special medical care of seafarers in the Port of Hamburg - in Groß-Sand and also on board ships.
As a cooperation partner, Seamen's Ambulance Groß-Sand advises the e-healthy ship project team on the content of the health platform.
The Seamen's Ambulance in the Groß-Sand Hospital was unfortunately closed without replacement on 31.10.2019.
